Northallerton Mowbray Rotarians put their ‘best foot forward’
On Sunday 30 June a group of Rotarians from the Club will be doing a sponsored walk to raise money for a water project in Pune district, India. Many women and girls have to walk 2 to 3 kilometers a day in the dry season to fetch water for daily use. The Borewell Recharge project has identified over 200 wells which dry up in the post-monsoon season and with a low-cost intervention, the water yield can be prolonged.
To raise monies for the project, the Rotarians will start their sponsored walk at The Forum car park and follow a route similar to the Northallerton 10k run, taking them up Bullamoor and back down Sandy Bank.
Club member Sandhya Nadgir, who has connections to Pune district, says “We welcome sponsorship or donations for this essential project to help many poor people in a vast rural area of India. Club members have sponsorship forms, or you can contribute to our target through our CAF Giving page for this walk.
