YOUTH EXCHANGE BETWEEN WELSHPOOL & CANADA
The annual exchange of students organised by Norfolk Sunrise RC Simcoe, Ontario and Welshpool RC is now in its 13th year. On March 16th 2010, six Canadian students arrived together with Nancy and Janelle, the Rotary sponsored leaders. Trips have been organised to Chester, Iron Bridge and local castles. The group leave for London on the 19th March. Six Welshpool students visited Canada last October led by Welshpool High teacher Bob Cannon.

On the occasion of the Canadian students visit, a Tree Planting ceremony was arranged at the Welshpool High School on Wednesday 17th March in memory of the late PP John Platt, a great supporter and founder organiser of the Exchange. Simultaneously, trees were also planted at the two schools in Canada which benefit from this excellent Rotary exchange.

Welshpool Rotary Club and the Rotary Club in Norfolk Sunrise of Ontario (Canada) arrange a 2-way youth exchange programme between Welshpool High School students and Waterford High School.
Welshpool visits Canada in October, and the Canadian team visit Welshpool in March each year. A special programme of sight seeing and cultural events is arranged for the students on both sides.

This follows 15 years of cooperation on a Youth Exchange Programme. After the Breakfast Meeting and
signing ceremony Club members and visitors attended a Tree Planting inauguration in memory of
PP John Platt of Welshpool.
