Fri 30th June 2017 - Supporting KIDS West Midlands

The Club has donated to the KIDS West Midlands Early Years Centre, Wylde Green a tumble form table that slides over a disabled child’s chair and increases the young person’s independence. We had a lovely afternoon at the opening of their new garden.

Tue 27th June 2017 Presidential Handover

Jackie handed over to Nick, who handed Senior Vice President over to Ken who handed over Junior Vice to Dick! We also have 3 new Paul Harris Fellowships with Sapphire Pins. Welcome to new member Karen Hurmson.

In a captivating and assuming manner, Warren described how Sense had helped him. Sense is a national charity that supports people who are deafblind, have sensory impairments or complex needs, to enjoy more independent lives.

Wed 14th June 2017 - Kids Out

This is a national event for disabled school age children, to give them a free day of fun and happiness. The Club sponsored 30 pupils from Wilson Stuart School in Erdington on the outing to Drayton Manor Park.

A most enjoyable evening at Shottle Hall in Derbyshire to mark the special anniversary of Aquabox taking water filters and emergency supplies around the world, giving the gift of life to families and communities.

Club members helped out at this year's music festival at Sutton Coldfield Rugby Football Club where £456 was raised for the Norman Laud Association.

A lovely lunchtime gathering at Fairlawns Hotel in Aldridge saw the presentation of a Paul Harris Award and a Margareta Golding Award to the Inner Wheel Club’s Founder Member Lillian Hopkins. Thank you to Ann Hawkings and John Watson for the photos.

This year's fundraising walk returned to Cannock Chase. It raised £2200.

Tue 23rd May 2017 Darren Harris; Two time paralympian

During 20 years as a Great Britain international blind football and judo player, Darren competed at 24 major championships and won 10 World and European medals. It was great to hear of his experiences.

Thu 18th May 2017 - Gracechurch Centre, Sutton Coldfield

We will be in the Centre with our collecting buckets, working in partnership with Home Instead Sutton Coldfield to raise funds for Forget Me Not, their community group supporting people with dementia and their carers.

Now in its 4th year, the competition is run by the Rotary Club of Wylde Green on behalf of the Rotary District. It attracted 40 U12 players who played an exciting sequence of matches at Sutton Coldfield Town Football Club.

Working with young people is a key strand to Rotary’s work as we know they will be the leaders of tomorrow. We discussed several ways how we might work together in the future. A brilliant evening!

Now in its sixth year, it was a lovely sunny evening when 8 local schools entered 120 players in 15 teams. The final was close with Boldmere A beating Little Sutton A 2-1. Well done Boldmere!

Hosted by the Rotary Club of Yardley and Sheldon. This event, a similar one at lunchtime and funding from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation raised enough to vaccine 3240 children against polio.

We sent forward teams from Bishop Vesey and Highclare Schools to today's competition at Bablake School, Coventry. Although neither is going through to the next round, the pupils were all a great credit to their schools.

The Club has donated £5738 towards an Omitract clamp costing £9000 that will help in bowel cancer surgery at Good Hope Hospital in Sutton Coldfield, working in partnership with our Inner Wheel colleagues, The Holly Trust and Johnson Controls staff.

We were very pleased to support this special event.The Cadets have had an excellent year receiving the Stephenson Trophy 2016, awarded for attaining the very highest standard of all-round efficiency and for being the best Unit in the South West Area.

Tue 24th January 2017 - Youth Speaks

Pupils from Bishop Vesey's Grammar School and HIghclare School were celebrating after the Club hosted this year's local round of the Rotary Youth Speaks competition. It is just one of the ways that Rotary seeks to work with young people.

Sun 22nd January 2017 - Rotary Walk

It was great to have 22 walkers, wearing a variety of headgear, for a very cold and frosty morning ramble around Chasewater. The walk continued across the M6 Toll bridge and into Brownhills Woods. Thanks to Nick and Penny for organising.

Tue 12th July 2016 - Dictionaries for Life

The Club continues to support the national literacy programme with the Dictionaries For Life project. This year it has been funded in partnership with Persimmon Homes. 240 dictionaries have been distributed to local school children.

Wed 6th July 2016 Rotary Junior Community Awards 2016

To achieve the Award Year 6 pupils take part in a range of developmental activities in Community Service, Social Experience, Skills and Physical Recreation. Our Club works closely with pupils at Penns Primary School who are pictured.
