Conwy Carriage Rides - Sat Sep 11th 2010

a VERY rainy start - the weather was awful. Conwy Rotary made quite a show in Lancaster Square The National Trust gave us permission to ride across the Telford Suspension Bridge in the early morning. A very popular carriage on the day - perhaps the enclosed carriage helped!!

FREE carriage rides around Conwy! The weather was awful, but lots of people enjoyed the day, thanks to club members and members of the British Driving Society.

The gentle clip-clop of horses hooves, reminiscent of a byegone age, were heard throughout Conwy town on Saturday, thanks to the Rotary Club of Conwy which had organised free carriage rides around the town.

In an effort to attract people to the town and so give a boost to local businesses, John Somerville, a member of Conwy Rotary Club and keen carriage driver, organised the event, which started on the Telford suspension bridge thanks to permission from The National Trust. Despite the torrential early morning rain and intermittent showers throughout the day, a steady stream of visitors and local people enjoyed the carriage rides on a variety of routes.
