Mar 2011 Memory Cafe, Girton WI Hall, High Street, Girton, CB3 0PU - Fri Mar 4th 2011

Memory-Cafe came to Cambridgeshire on 4th March. The grand opening was by local MP and Secretary of State for Health, Andrew Lansley CBE.

A Memory-Cafe is where people with varying forms of memory loss and their carers can visit to support each other and share information.

On the morning of Friday 4th March, South Cambridge Rotary Club started a Memory Café monthly programme, with a lot of people with memory difficulties and their carers enjoying talk about events and characters from their younger days, singing along remembered songs, and enjoying chat over shared refreshment and an entertaining talk led by Cambridgeshire historian Mike Petty. We were delighted that our local MP and Sec of State for Health, Andrew Lansley, spent much of the morning with us, and formally opened the Memory Café.
Rotary will be running A Memory Café 10-12am on the first Friday of every month, the next being 1 April, in the WI, High St, Girton. All with memory problems and their carers will be very welcome - more information from tel. 01223 276192 or 690268, or South Cambridge Rotary Club website.

All with memory challenges and their carers are welcome to enjoy refreshments, memorabilia, entertainment, information, informal talks, singing.
