Welcome to the website of the Rotary Club of Misbourne Matins

Welcome to the Rotary Club Of Misbourne Matins.

2008 was the 16thyear that a collection took place at Heathrow Airport on Friday 14 November for the BBC's Children in Need National Appeal. Since 1995, we have been very fortunate to have the enthusiastic support of a number of other organisations within the Thames Valley area to help with the collecting.  As a result of this we regularly raise sums in excess of £10,000 and last year we raised £13,150!

This year we were hoping to have a bumper year – Children in Need Day provides fun for all those who take part and supports an exceedingly worthwhile cause, with national impact. Collecting started at 6.00am and finished between 8.00pm and 8.30pm.

(YES, the organisers were there - before 6am!!) FREE PARKING was PROVIDED

This year we were collecting in the new Terminal 5 building for the first time.  It was a chance to help and to see this wonderful building. Although we expected the "credit crunch" to affect the collection, we were pleased that things were not as bad as we had feared and the total colllected during the day was £10,700.

Christmas Float:   The little house took to the streets again this year and the collections were proving to be down on last year BUT an extra all-day static collection was added at the end and the total collected that day was well worthwhile as the total for 2008 just beat the 2007 figure with an amount of £7,050 collected.

The First Fund Raising event of 2009 was the Salsa Evening at Mr. Poons on

Wednesday 28 January

The Second event was the Ferret Racing Evening at the NEC on

Saturday 30 May when £1,500.00 was raised

Several members of the Club were in Torquay for the annual Conference and took with them the quilt made by the Club's "Stitch and Bitch" ladies which was raffled for the benefit of Canine Partners:  the target of £2000 was reached.
