Christmas Lights and Santa Float in Neston

The Rotary Club of Neston as in previous years has arranged for the Mayor to switch on the Christmas Lights at Neston Cross at 7pm on Friday 30 November.

Prior to the switch on, the choir from Neston High School will be singing carols supported by the school’s band. The Rotary Club will be distributing hymn sheets so that parents and children can join in.

As the lights are switched on, Santa will arrive to talk to the children and distribute a small gift.

Each night from Monday 3rd December to Thursday 6th,, Santa in the Rotary carol wagon will tour the roads around  Neston giving children another opportunity to talk to Santa. The carol wagon and Santa will also be at Gordales on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th December.

Last year collections carried out during the various activities raised £2,345 for charities and it is hoped to once again raise a similar amount.

GSE Team Visit to West Virginia

Dinner and Presentation to Club

President Harry Cross welcomed the GSE team to Thornton Hall Hotel to present an account of their experience of the exchange.  An entertaining evening was given and it was obvious that the team lead and the four girls had an excellent, if exhausting time.  Well done to all.  Also in attendance for the evening were the 2008 team as they prepared for their visit to New Zealand.  We wish them the best of luck.

As a gesture to assist the 2008 teams fund raising as small raffle was held and £120 was donated to their fund.

West Virginia GSE Team Visit

Dinner and Presentation to Club

President Paul Davies welcomed the GSE Team from West Virginia to District 1180 and in particular to RC of Neston.  Rtn Derek Seber provided grace and presented team leader Karen Wilmoth with a token cross in respect of those tragically lost at Virginia Tech on Monday.  The team, Karen, Matthew Kelly, Peggy Malanosky, David Mazon, Chris Stout and Jennifer Wright provided an insight to life in the picturesque mountains of their home state.

Many thanks to all those rotarians and friends who provided hosting to the visitng team.

We wish them well on the rest of the trip and hope that the only hiccup was the initial trip from USA to UK where they encountered a 2 day delay, but at least were able to get together as a team in New York.

GSE team l to r Karen, Paul, Jennifer, Matthew, David, Chris and Peggy
