welcomes you to the Sherborne Rotary Club website.We hope that you will find the following pages interesting and informative. Please contact us should you need any further information or wish to attend one of our events. Our normal meeting place is The Sherborne Hotel, which is situated at the junction of the A352 and the A30 roads. We normally meet Tuesdays 6.00 for 6-30pm.
Our primary purpose is to serve the community often by raising funds for charity.
The Presidents office lasts one year. The picture below left shows the handover on 29th June 2010,
from Past President Martyn Steer on the right, to the new president Ben Woolley.

FUND RAISING
Help for Heros
On July 3rd a fund raising Musical Evening and Hog Roast was held at The Sherborne School for Girls. The Ringwood Pipe band and singer Teressa De Roberto gave magnificent performances. It s estimated that to date, in excess of £1500 has been raised for Help for Hereos.
Haiti Earthquake Appeal
The inner wheel club of Sherborne and The Rotary Clubs of Sherborne and
Castles club raised about £9000 for the Haiti Earthquake Appeal
by street collections and coffee and tea morning at the Cheap street
Methodist hall on Saturday 23rd January and other collection in local villages.
Voluntary Ambulance Donation
Our past president John House, jointly with John Scarth of Sherborne Castles Rotary Club, awarding a cheque to Mike Nurton for the use by The Voluntry Ambulance Service.The money was raised by the Historic Vehicle Event held every year in The Courts of the Sherborne School for Boys.Fellowship Activities
We keep a variety in our fellowship activities and undertake some social meetings both at home and away away from our normal venue.

The 2009 Historic Vehicle Rally is a brilliant event for raising funds for charity.

The swimarathon 2009 held at the Oxley Sports centre, Sherborne School for Girls was hotly contestest and was won by Lewiston School by just one length over Bryanston School.
The winners of this first-time event are shown below with some of the members from the Rotary Club of Sherborne. Over £1000 was raised by the sponsored teams and we expect to have more teams at the next Swimarathon in14th November 2010.

Community Work.
2010 Youth Makes music
This is a regular event when local schools are all asked to present music to the public at the Digby hall. profits go to charity.
2010 Youth Speaks
Rotary's 'Youth Speaks' is a National competition. Sherborne Rotary Club always organises the local senior round and the Castles club organises the junior event. This year's senior quarter final round was held on 4th November at the Gryphon School with teams from Sherborne School, Sherborne Girls School, Leweston and the Gryphon School.The picture shows our club president Martyn Steer ( top left) . The winning school here is the Gryphon and the captain is proudly holding the cup. They went forward to the semi finals at Beaminster on 9th February where they just lost to the Park School Yeovil.
