Welcome to the website of the Rotary Club of Pontllanfraith

The Rotary Club of Pontllanfraith meet at the Monnington Lodge Hotel, which is located in Blackwood in the heart of the beautiful Sirhowy Valley of South Wales, just twenty five minutes drive from Cardiff City Centre and twenty minutes from Junction 28 of the M4 Motorway.

The Club was formed on the 21st of May 1985. The club currently has 33 members and is twinned with the Rotary of St Jean de Luz in the South West of France. Our President for the Rotary Year 2010/2011 is Past District Governor Rotarian Bob Dodds.

Rotarians in the Club are very supportive of both District 1150 and also Zone 5 levels, providing many service chairman and also the District Governor in the Rotary Year of 1996/1997. The Club has a very successful and much sought after bulletin called "Gasps", this is produced on a monthly basis. PDG Bob Dodds is the editor of the District 1150 "Spokesman" Magazine.

Rotarians in the Club helped and supported the running of a Sinclair C5 from John O'Groats to Lands End in 1987, this helped raise £10,000 for Leukemia Research Wales and also paid the Club's money due for the Polio Plus campaign. The Club was entered in the Guinness Book of Records for five years after this successful run.
