Dartmoor Vale was formed as an evening Club in 1986; the daughter Club of three long-standing Clubs in South Devon, namely the Rotary Clubs of Newton Abbot, Bovey Tracey and District, and Ashburton and Buckfastleigh.  At the time, those three clubs met for lunch, but saw the need for an evening club covering their areas.

Meetings are normally held at 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays at the Cockhaven Manor in Bishopsteignton.  Meetings normally end around 10:00 p.m.  However, on the first Thursday of the month we meet informally between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. with no meal.
