Welcome to the website of the Rotary Club of Huntingdon Hinchingbrooke

Club members 2009/2010 together with Gerty our mascot

We are an active club in and around the town of Huntingdon. Our club was chartered in 2000 as a breakfast club to address the need to accommodate younger members in the community who are still at work.

We have breakfast meetings at 7.00am on the 1st, 3rd & 5th Wednesdays of each month at The George Hotel, Huntingdon. On the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays we meet at 6.30pm at various community locations including a regular monthly visit to The Manor Cheshire Home in Brampton.

If you are interested in joining us for a social event or for one of our breakfasts then please contact Bob Hulstrom (Club President) on 01480 451412, or Nicola Rule (Membership) on 01480 457115. If you are 18 to 30 and interested in visiting or joining the Rotaract Club of Huntingdon please do visit their website for further information.

News

06/07/2010 New President  for Hinchingbrooke Rotary.

The Presidency of Hinchingbrooke Rotary has been handed to local PRO Mike Humphrey of Hartford.
Mike joined the town's breakfast Rotary Club when he moved to Huntingdon in 2008. He succeeds Bob Holstrum who, with Rotarian Jane Morris, masterminded the recent, highly successful, Huntingdon 10K Charity Run. This event will now become an annual fundraiser for Hinchingbrooke Rotary and many local and national charities.
Hinchingbrooke Rotary meets at 7am on the first and third Wednesday of the month at the George Hotel. A relatively new club, they have a 50/50 mix of male and female members drawn from local businesses. Their motivation is to serve local and international communities and have fun along the way. Their next major event is a Dickensian themed dinner at the George in October with guest speaker Mike Petty and music and food from the period. If you would like details of Hinchingbrooke Rotary or specific events please contact Sandra Ferrelly on 01480 394986.

06/07/2010 Born to Run.
Bob Holstrum and Jane Morris of Hinchingbrooke Rotary received a framed print of the starting line up for the recent Huntingdon 10K Charity Run as a small thank you for the many hours they committed to planning this year's inaugural event in June.
With well over 400 registrants, Race Organiser Bob said he was delighted with the response and looked forward to this becoming a major fixture on the East of England running calendar. He thanked Rotary Club members and the numerous sponsors whose efforts and generosity paved the way for its success.
Presenting the print, incoming club President Mike Humphrey stated that Hinchingbrooke Rotary Club could be proud of having two 'Super Stars' who are prepared to hit on a winning idea and 'running with it' to its successful conclusion.
It has been estimated that around £20,000 were raised for individual charities by the runners.

20/06/2010 Hinchingbrooke Rotary 10k run success.

Hinchingbrooke Rotary have celebrated their first 'Huntingdon 10k Charity Run' in June with more than 400 registrants.
Leaving Huntingdon Race Course, the run followed a scenic route along bridleways and Great Stukeley. Race organiser and Rotary President Bob Holstrum was thrilled with the turnout and estimated that more than £20,000 would be raised for local and national charities. He thanked the many companies that had supported the event with sponsorship or free services. The Run is still looking for a major sponsor and branding partner.
Incoming President Mike Humphrey said "How very lucky we are to have 2 absolute superstars in Bob and his wife Jane. Sparing their blushes, we have every right to feel proud of 2 individuals who not only come up with a project but then move heaven and earth to bring it in as a fabulous event that, with all our support, could and should become the club's main fund raiser and shop window for years to come".

05/06/2010 Teas please at Riverside Gala 2010

Hinchingbrooke Rotary ensured that no one went hungry or thirsty at Huntingdon's annual Riverside Gala in June. Copious quantities of yummy home made cakes were served with lashings of tea... and a friendly smile!

A full programme of arena events, the return of Woodgreen Animal Shelters's fun dog show, lots of charity stalls, a German band, a fun fair and a flypast by a WW2 Spitfire kept the crowds happy.
