About the Rotary Club of Drone Valley

  As a relatively new Rotary Club,  Drone Valley is extremely proud of its early successes - and many local, national and international causes have benefited from the hard work of its members and the generosity of the people of Dronfield and outlying districts.   In the spirit of modern Rotary we try to reflect the needs of a young working family - and, to this end, meetings are held each Monday evening at 8pm in the relaxed and informal setting of the Birchall Golf Club, Unstone. Unlike some more 'traditional' Rotary Clubs we have no formal dress code.  Pay us a visit - and discover a friendly and welcoming group of people who get pleasure from giving something to the community whilst enjoying the fellowship of the Rotary family.  

About our name

  Chartered in June 2005, our Club is named after the River Drone, which flows in the valley between the fields once favoured by the wild honey bees – the community settling next to the river becoming known as Dranfield, and finally Dronfield. The River Drone continues to Chesterfield. The Club title also encapsulates the membership and outreach to areas along the River Drone including Dronfield and surrounding villages and hamlets down to Chesterfield.    

Rotary International

  Rotary International is a global network of service volunteers. It is the world's largest service organisation for business and professional people, with some 1,210,905 members operating in 168 countries world-wide. There are some 58,000 Rotarians in Great Britain and Ireland in 1,845 clubs, helping those in need and working towards world understanding and peace. It's a fulfilling role and Rotarians can get involved as much or as little as their time will allow. But there is much more. Our Rotary Club - Drone Valley - meets on a regular basis, which allows members to build firm friendships. Every Rotarian has a right to attend any Club meeting anywhere in the world, so there is always somewhere to go, and people to meet, wherever business or leisure travel may take you.
