Welcome to the website of the Rotary Club of Gatley & District

The Rotary Club of Gatley & District was formed in 1980 and since that time has undertaken a wide range of community, educational and international projects that epitomises our Rotary Theme of "Service above Self".

Would you like to join an international service organisation that brings involvement with local, national and international activities?

For those of us who have been in Rotary International for some years we have had the opportunity of attending Rotary International events in many parts of the world and this has led to a wide range of friendships in many countries.

Are you looking to meet new friends from many walks of life?

Do you want to help in providing a positive service to those in need locally, nationally and internationally?

In Rotary we believe in fellowship and enjoyment of our meetings and activities .

Rotary International was founded over 100 years ago and now has 1.2 million members throughout the world and in the Rotary Club of Gatley we are now aiming to increase our membership and to invite local business and service people to come and join us so that we can expand our programme of service.

In this website we will give you an idea of the work our Club has undertaken and also some of our plans for the future.

If you live or work in the Gatley and District area and if you are interested in finding out more about what Rotarians are doing then please contact us by email

GATLEY ROTARY CLUB  COMMUNITY PROJECTS

THE SEASHELL TRUST

Several years ago the Rotary Club of Gatley were the driving force in helping The SeaShell Trust (The Royal School for the Deaf & Communications Disorders) to design and create a special sensory garden for the children at the school. It had raised flowerbeds, which enabled the children to touch, feel and smell all of the plants. It changed the centre of the school complex and where there was an old tennis court it has been replaced with a garden that opens up the whole of the school area.

From time to time we continue to improve the garden including the planting of bulbs so that in the spring the garden is a mass of daffodils and other spring plants.

We have also helped the Trust in a major educational programme to which many local primary schools were invited to hear from World War II veterans and also to be involved in special art classes. The Rotary Club organised the programme of visiting war veterans and chaired the talks given by the veterans. We received many letter from the schools expressing their thanks and appreciation for a most interesting educational project.

GATLEY ROTARY CLUB    COMMUNITY PROJECTS

GATLEY YOUTH CLUB

In 2008 we helped the local Gatley Youth Club in providing equipment for their kitchen. We were very pleased to have had the Mayor of Stockport, Cllr Pam King come to the Youth Club and hand over the cooking equipment and help with their first meal.

We now invite members of the Youth Club to visit our Rotary Club. This is just one of our local initiatives in helping the community.
