July Garden Party with Big Band
President Maureen and husband Nigel hosted a fantastic day Garden Party with Big Band at their home on Saturday 31st July. The weather was kind, the band tremendous and the company (over 220 people) most agreeable & generous. With online contributions & the money collected we have raised over £2,975 so far which is fantastic and finishes off the month in a most satisfactory fashion.
The garden party was partly fellowship and partly fund raising for our club's Ghana project; the building of a workshop for disabled young people in Koforidua. Many of these young people contracted Polio when they were small and thus have few job opportunities. We have managed to obtain a matched grant that will provide computers, materials for batik & tie-dye & pay teachers' salaries but we have to provide the money for the building.

Our small but friendly Club was formed over 40 years ago and welcomes both business men and women of all ages. We meet at 1pm every Wednesday lunchtime at the Masonic Hall in Ampthill, with the exception of every third Wednesday in the month which is an evening meeting held at 8pm.
