Welcome to the Internet Pages of The Rotary Club of Nailsea and Backwell, a member Club of Rotary International.

The view over Backwell from Backwell Hill, with Nailsea in the background. Our local area is centered on the rural communities of Nailsea and Backwell, set in the delightful North Somerset countryside to the West of Bristol, UK.

We are a friendly club with 48 members at present and are always on the look out for potential members, both male and female, who would like to put something back into our local community and the national / international scene. We also have an active social programme. Membership is by invitation and if you would like to know more about us and the work we do, with or without the view to possible membership, please contact our Club President John Glason or Club Secretary Alan Davies using the 'Contact Form' tab in the top horizontal navigation panel, selecting the person you wish to contact in the 'Subject' drop down menu box.

We meet on very nearly every Thursday evening at The Mizzymead Recreation Centre in the middle of Nailsea, which is a members club, so visitors do please need to contact us prior to the day of the meeting.  Click on the postcode (shown in blue) just above the picture of our meeting venue in the top right panel on this page to see a streetmap of Nailsea - Mizzymead Recreation Centre is at the end of Mizzymead Rise on the right of the letter 'd' at the end of the street name. We meet at 6pm on the 4th Thursday in most months and at 7.30pm on most of the other Thursdays in each month.

The proceeds of several events, together with a contribution of £1,000 from The Rotary Club Of Portishead and anticipated grant funds from other Rotary charities has raised more than £14,000 towards The Mackunduchi Project to renovate and improve a hospital in Zanziba.

Request - If you have any paperback books or jigsaws that you would like to donate to us for our charity book sales, please send us a message by selecting the 'Contact form' tab at the top of this page and 'bookstall' in the subject tab drop down menu box.
