President Mike
The President of the Banstead Club is Mike Bowen, who took office from 1st July 2010. He is looking forward to a year working more closely with neighbouring Clubs and keeping communication at the heart of the Club's programme for the year. The President's Charity for 2010/2011 is Diabetes UK.

A Message from the President
The Banstead Rotary Club is a vibrant and active organisation in which the membership is committed to contribute to the wellbeing of those in need whether they be at home or overseas.
In order to achieve that objective the Club needs to constantly replace those members lost for various reasons and increase the overall numbers of those who can find the time to help in a small way. This means doing as little or as much as you feel that you can and if you should feel that membership of a Rotary Club is too much for you at the moment then why not be a Friend of Rotary and see how things work from the sidelines.
We have a lot of fun and banter while helping others as members of a world-wide organisation that has no political or religious affiliations. We meet and exchange views and experiences in an atmosphere of friendship and good fellowship once a week. We chat over a meal and as well as formulating ways in which we can help both the local and the international community and we enjoy ourselves. There are trips to places of interest and of learning and there are outings which are just plain good fun.
The start of a new Rotary year (July) brings as usual a requirement to reassess and refine what can and cannot be done and the way in which goals can be achieved. Any innovative suggestions as to how we can achieve more are always welcome.
Our members come from all walks of life and all of our Ladies (yes we do welcome Ladies as well as Gentlemen) and Gentlemen are fun to be with. Mike Bowen
Club Visit
In May 2010, a group form the Club visited Malta, exploring historical sites and many other places of interest. This heavily populated isalnd with its parched farmland and beige limestone buildings made a marked contrast with our Surrey countryside. A day spent on the beautiful island of Gozo was a highlight of the trip and the visit was rounded off with an excursion to the impressive capital city, Valetta.
