Welcome from President Uche

Rtn. Uche Echeozo

My dear friends, I welcome you all as we in Rotary strive to achieve peace through service.

This Rotary year  (2012-2013) promises to be a challenging year. But, as Rotary never gives up, we do not intend to rest on our oars. In an insane world, where the sane man is insane; a world where conflict resolution has become an urgent need rather than a luxury, the Rotary E-Club of Oxford International recognizes that men and women are relational beings hence we develop acquaintance as an opportunity to serve.

We intend to strengthen our efforts to bring ‘the sunshine” to the lives of our fellow men and women. Notable projects include progressing the campaign to “End Polio Now’ in areas where Polio is still endemic (including Pakistan and Nigeria) and bringing potable water to those that need it.

We encourage you to join us as we build goodwill and better friendships, advancing international understanding and peace the world over. May the good Lord bless you as you come.

 Thank you. Yours in Rotary

Uche Raymond Echeozo. President, 2012-2013   Rotary E-Club of Oxford International

The club is planning a joint International Service project.

Water Bore-hole project. (Group Leader Uche)

Oxford International E-Club is embarking on a water aid (bore-hole) project to be executed together with Rotary Club of Ikoyi (District 9110) in Nigeria.

The Rotary Club of Ikoyi (our partner club) from District 9110 encountered a situation whereby a pupil (school child) fell into a pit latrine (toilet) and died. ‘Pit toilet’ is a ‘system’ where the only sanitation available is a hole dug in the ground due to the lack of water  for  more hygienic toilet facilities. This situation where proper toilet facilities are lacking occurs in quite a number of schools.

As a result, the e-club, in conjunction with Rotary Club of Ikoyi are embarking on a Water Aid project which would entail sinking a bore-hole to enable a supply of potable water which will provide proper toilet facilities to the school in Nigeria. It is a complete package that provides water, ensuring better sanitation better hygiene and in turn healthy living for the school community.
