WELCOME TO SWANAGE ROTARY
CELEBRATING OUR 54th YEAR OF SERVICE BEFORE SELF
Welcome to our website during this our 54th Year. My name is David Frankham and I am President of the Rotary Club of Swanage and Purbeck. If you are not already a Rotarian I hope the information about Rotary International, our Club, who and what we are and do, will be of interest to you. Why not come and join us at one of our meetings and see who and what we are and what we do within our community and internationally?
We are part of Rotary International which is a global network of service volunteers. It is the world's largest service organisation for business and professional people, with over 1,200,000 members operating in 180 countries world-wide. If you want to find out more about Rotary please use the links on the left of this page.
We are a dual gender Club with around 25 Members. Our club members come from many different walks of life and membership is composed of business and professional people, both active and retired. We welcome prospective new members who may be able to contribute some of their time to enjoy the social aspects of membership whilst also involving themselves in our community and vocational activities both here and overseas. More details of what we do can be found in a brochure you can download and read which we hope you will do.
Our emphasis again this Rotary Year is a balance between supporting our local community and our international projects. We have a particular focus on supporting youth and vocational projects and supporting Carers within our Community. In addition we will focus on working with other voluntary organisations to try to maximise the benefit to the local community. Our chosen charity for this year is Julia's House Hospice and we will be raising funds throughout the year. We will also provide help for victims of disasters around the world. You can see the things we are involved with by clicking here.
We meet on Wednesday evenings at 1930 in The Conservative Club in Kings Road in Swanage. You can find us by selecting the map at the top right hand corner of this page. We regularly invite guest speakers to give us a short talk (about 10 - 15 minutes) on a wide range of subjects. Details can be seen on our meeting programme which can be found on the upper left hand menu of this page.
We are particularly grateful for the support of our Rotary Business Partners who enable us to publicise much of our work. More information can be found via the link on the left hand side of this screen or by clicking on one of the logos below.
By prior arrangement non-Rotarians are welcome at most of our meetings and if you would like to come along to discover what Rotary is about then please contact our Club Secretary using the contact form link and selecting "Membership Enquiries".
Rotarians visiting from other Clubs are recommended to check in advance of their arrival and verify the Club's final arrangements for the date of their planned visit with our Club Secretary using the contact form and selecting "Visiting Rotarians".
So once again welcome to our website - feel free to roam and please do get in touch if you want to find out more.
