Rally Exhibitors, Families and Friends,

I am happy and relieved that the Rotary Club of Banchory-Ternan has successfully conducted yet another well prepared and slick Crathes Vintage Car and Motorcycle Rally. The 2019 rally had an entirely new layout for rally exhibits, trade stands and attractions. Sadly though, this year the weather was not on our side, in fact it was very much against us.

Unfortunately of the 360 vehicles entered only 140 actually arrived. Being a classic car owner myself I fully understand why more than 200 of you would not wish to venture out on such a rainy start to the day.

For those who came along, thank you. Please tell everyone how much you enjoyed the day, many of you certainly told me that it was a good day out. There was no drama, no hitches, just as always it was a well organised rally with a happy spirit throughout, even the sun briefly smiled.

Those of you who notified us that you were unable to attend and made a £10.00 donation in lieu of raffle ticket sales, we are eternally grateful because as you know the purpose of the rally is to bring a large collection of interesting vehicles to Crathes for the public and to raise funds for worthwhile charities. This year’s main charity being the Forget Me Not Club, an organisation, providing care for those who suffer dementia and support for those who care for them.

So this year our ability to make a financial contribution to the Forget Me Not Club and other worthy charities is severely diminished. Lower numbers of spectators through the gates, has been unhelpful.
But that is not the whole story. Each of you received two books of raffle tickets worth £10.00 to sell in return for your registration and entry to the rally. Not much by today’s standards but a significant amount for charities reliant on donations. These tickets and money are usually handed over on your arrival, but of course this year “no shows” meant no money except for those who have already given.

So to help us help others, particularly the Forget Me Not Club, it would be wonderful if you were able to make a donation / contribution to The Rotary Club of Banchory-Ternan, for this very worthwhile cause.

Yours sincerely,

Stewart Park
Crathes Rally – Chairman.

The day begins at 10.00 with road-run from Crathes to Torphins and then back via Inchmarlo. The rest of the day is a leisurely event with music, good food and a display of all the vehicles.  There are plenty of things to keep the whole family happy with bouncy castle, children's rides, trade stands, the nearby Deeside Railway, Milton of  Crathes craft village, The Milton Restaurant and the grounds of Crathes Castle all within easy walking distance.

At around 3.30pm the results of the expert panel of judges are announced and there are trophies for the lucky winners. After the prize-giving, the winning entries are invited to drive up to the front of Crathes Castle where there is a photo-opportunity.

As in past years, we are raising funds for local charities.
