 Youth Opportunities Programme 2010 – 2011

Once again the Rotary Club of Clitheroe will be offering a full programme of competitions and activities in the coming year. These include:

 Young Photographer

for both Primary and High Schools. This year's subjects are 'Landscapes, Seascapes and Sunsets' The competition is split into three age groups:

Junior 7 - 10, Intermediate 11 - 13 and Senior 14 – 17 years of age.

Last year we had 5 winners at District level from the 110 entries we received.

Young Photographer is sponsored by UK Digital of Clitheroe.

Youth Speaks

public speaking competition, will once again be conducted early in the new year. We hope to continue the success we have enjoyed over several years by providing winning teams at District level in both Intermediate and Senior age groups.

Young Writer

This competition is open to year 7 and children from year 6. We have won this competition at District level for the past three years with writers from Brookside Primary, St. Augustine's and Clitheroe Royal Grammar School.

Thje subject in 2010 is write a letter to anyone in any period of time, past, present or future.

Young Chef

will again take place with 'cook offs' being held in the autumn of 2009. Children taking part will be asked to plan, prepare and cook a three course meal within a fixed budget. Also, the winner will have the opportunity to cook their winning menu at a Rotary dinner, to which their family will be invited, at our sponsor's venue, Mytton Fold Hotel.

Technology Tournament.

This popular competition will be held March 11th 2011 at The Hollins Technology College, Accrington. Teams will once again be given a challenging technology based project to design, build and demonstrate. In 2009 congratulations to CRGS who came first at the Basic level.

Rotary Youth Leadership awards (RYLA) and Rotary Youth Programme of Enrichment (RYPEN)

are two personal development programmes that we support with local schools. Details of both these programmes can be found at our District website:
