The Rotary Club Of Denbigh supports the Denbigh Carnival

Sat June 27th
Denbigh Rotary were determined to support Denbigh Carnival this year.  We
have supported them financially but wanted to have a presence on the field.
Vocational committee under the chairmanship of Gwyrfai decided to offer
BLOOD PRESSURE TESTING.  Gwyrfai, Hywel and Dilwyn manned the tent,
checking a number of Carnival goers..
John's Community Committee decided to run a Summer, Junior Roll the Barrel
Competition. We had a steady stream of young people, all determined to post
the fastest time. The Senior Boys winner was Daniel (12)(time 26.78 secs)
from Denbigh High School. The fastest time recorded for a Senior girl was
36.09 secs  by Elizabeth (12) from Ysgol Maes Garmon, Mold.
In the Junior races, the fastest  boy was Charlie aged 8.  Grandson of past
President Emrys, his best time was 27.31 secs. He attends Ysgol Frongoch.
He will be hard to beat in the Boxing Day races!  Finally the junior Girls
winner was Betty aged 11 who attends Ysgol Pendref. Her time was 31.94 secs.
Thanks go to the Rotarians who assisted with the setting up of the course
and especially, Gareth F, John W, John D and Tim who manned the races.  We
were a little short of help at times but got through the afternoon! We all
slept well that night!
Hywel also brought along our Rotary entry for the Chester Raft race on
Sunday July 12.  More about that after July 12th.
On reflection our positioning was out of the way. Next year we would need
(either) to have a major attraction closer to us, or for us to be more
central!

In addition, six Rotarians, Elfed, Peter, Alwyn, Dilwyn, Hywel and Tim acted as marshalls for the preceding procession
