Rotary Senior Citizens' Concert

Our annual senior citizens' concert was held on Friday 16 March in Queensferry High School.

A grand night was had by all!  Our thanks  go to all our performers and Rotarians and their partners for making this such a special evening.  A special thank you must go to the teachers of Expressive Arts at Queensferry High School, especially Ms Cat Eunson - Curriculum Leader of Expressive Arts and Music Teacher, Ms Flic Sim, the sound crew comprising of Mr Stephen Hardie and Mr Sandy MacNair, Kerr Burns and Lewis Berry

President Neil opened the evening by welcoming everyone to the concert, he then handed over to Dr Douglas Stuart MBE who was our MC.

Douglas introduced our first act - students from Queensferry High School playing a mixture of classical and modern tunes.  The choir then delighted the audience when they sang some beautiful songs from musicals.  Ferry Blend then treated us to a medley of songs - both old and new.

The raffle was drawn during the interval, and our thanks go to Rotarians Derek Clark and Pete McHale whose companies donated all the raffle prizes.  Scotmid donated all the teas and coffees - which was appreciated by one and all, and we are very grateful to them for their kind donation.

After the interval, the mood changed a little as we heard some delightfully traditional Scottish songs from Home Groan.  Afterwards, Bel Canto - a quintet from Aberdeenshire brought back memories with music from Gershwin and our very own Norman Watson sang  the very evocative and provocative Ol' Man River. The evening was rounded off by rousing music from the Queensferry Community Brass Band - during which a long service medal of 50 years was made to Mr Dennis Denning by Mr Dan Harrison.

At the end of the evening, President Elect Sandy thanked everyone for coming and making the evening such a success.
