A Talk by Rotarian Bob Webster
Thu, Feb 26th 2009 at 12:00 am - 2:00 am
The speaker this evening, introduced by Ian Godsman, was our very own Bob Webster. Bob took as his subject his life's work - to date.
This was a highly humorous trip down memory lane by a very accomplished after-dinner speaker. He travelled from his very first job (where he was sent all over the place to get a 'bucket of steam' for his journeymen superiors), through to very recent ones such as vice chairman of River Cyde Homes and an organiser for the Inverclyde leg of the Tall Ships Race. Here, he spoke in glowing terms of the splendid work done by the chief organiser, Helen Drummond, who happens to be the wife of our own Bruce.
There were a variety of jobs in between both here, in other parts of the country and abroad. Fascinating, funny stuff!
The prolonged applause at the end showed how much the Rotarians present enjoyed the talk.
