Charity Swimathon 2017

Sun 16th July 2017 at 10.00 - 18.00

This year's Swimathon was held again at the 'Everyone Active' Washington Leisure Centre. This year our headline charitable cause was 'T1KZ' - assisting children, young people and families living with Type 1 diabetes in the North East

Our 3rd Annual 'Charity Swimathon' was held on Sunday 16th July 2017 at the 'Everyone Active' Washington Leisure Centre. This event was another great family fun day with swimmers of all ages taking part. All sponsorship monies received will be shared as follows:-

’Type 1 Kidz’ –supporting children and young people in the area who live with type 1 diabetes. See www.type1kidz.com  (‘Type 1 Kidz’ is a project of Investing in Children – a Community Interest Company registered in England & Wales no: 8428687)

Charitable Causes supported through The Rotary Club of Washington Forge (www.washingtonforgerotary.org.uk)

Charities/causes chosen by the participating teams(this can be to support their own organisation/club or either of the above if they wished)

18 teams of between four and six swimmers were allocated a swimming lane for 30 minutes. It was fun and friendly with participants enjoying their swim and completing the number of lengths they were comfortable with - all in the knowledge that money was being raised for very worthwhile causes.

Teams taking part this year were:

'The First Breakers'
Rainbow Youth Theatre (2 teams)
Type 1 Kidz (2 teams)
Ron's Rescue Team
Team Sam
The Telfer/Twist Team
The Mermaid Men
Fatfield Musical Stage Society (3 teams)
