Fleet Rotay sponsored young chef beats strong opposition in District Young Chef Competition
Readers may recall that Miranda Watson of St Nicholas’ School won the local heat of the Young Chef 2017 competition organised by Fleet Rotary back in December 2016

Miranda cooked her way to further glory at the District Final which involved over 150 contestants from sponsoring Rotary clubs stretching from Twickenham in the north, to Steyning in West Sussex. The fiercely fought contest was held at South Thames College, Morden in late February. She will now go on to the Rotary Regional final at Ascot in late March

Mrs Alison Audino, Head of Food Technology at St Nic’s appeared almost as excited as Miranda and her mum, when the results were announced. Alison praised Miranda’s commitment, dedication and determination to succeed which had self-evidently paid dividends last Saturday

Presentation of the winner’s engraved rose bowl shown in the photograph, was made by Craft Guild of Chefs vice president Giovanni Fontebasso  while Merton mayor, Councillor Brenda Fraser, presented Miranda with a cookery book and chef’s knife - photos attached
