JUNIOR SPEAKS 2023

Pupils, parents and Rotarians are able to attend the finals of the Rotary Youth Speaks competition, held in Trinity School Teignmouth.

Pupils from Year 4, 5 and 6 take part in the annual Junior Speak competition at Trinity School Teignmouth. Organised by the Teignmouth Rotary Club, this competition is designed to offer young people experience in public speaking. The topics chosen by pupils cover a very wide range.
Following separate heats for each class, upto15 finalists make their presentations before a large and appreciative audience of parents and other relatives, classmates, staff and Rotarians. The winners in this year 2023 were
Libbet Marshal yr6 who talked about the National Autistic Society.
Mali Eykyn yr5 who spoke about human bones.
Florence Foran yr4 who spoke about Mary Anning
Each entrant is presented an award by the Teignmouth Rotary Club President and the events are organised by Mike Keith, from the Rotary Youth Services.

QUOTE-
We were delighted to welcome the Rotary Club of Teignmouth to Trinity School to host the Prep Department's Youth Speaks Final. Pupils spoke on their hobbies from bones, through growing chillies to baking cakes.

The latter competitor “bribed” the judges and his Headmaster with a lovely lemon drizzle cake he had made and it was not surprising we were all happy to indulge.

The older children were asked to speak on a charity they supported, not just knew about but were actively involved with and all did so with passion and genuine advocacy of their chosen cause which included the RNLI, so important to Teignmouth.

Once again Trinity would like to thank Nicky Burgess, the first female president of RCT, for bringing her team of Rotarians to the school.

They performed their judging duties excellently, presenting certificates and prizes at the conclusion of a very enjoyable night.
