Home | Charity Golf Competition at Ilkley Golf Club

Blaize members decamped to Ilkley Golf Club where the sun shone and £6,200 was raised for charity.

The Rotary Club of Bradford Blaize once again held their annual Charity Golf Tournament at Ilkley Golf Club. The weather forecast was not good and the early morning skies looked like heavy rain might be the order of the day but in the end the sun broke through and the golfers and helpers ended up with sun burn rather than the expected soaking. This was the 21st tournament and added £6,200 to the tally of previous years making more than £126,000 raised for charity.

The winners of this year's tournament were the team sponsored by Emerald Publishing who came in with a score of 112.

We are grateful to Ilkley Golf Club who allow us each year to hold this competition and also to our half-way house sponsors Farnell Land Rover of Bradford and our hole sponsors Barclays Bank plc, Gordons LLP,     N. Peal Ltd, John Peel & Sons Ltd, Pennine Signs Ltd and Watsons Building Services Ltd. But our biggest thanks must go to the golfing teams who entered some of whom have been entering for many years.

It was particularly pleasing this year to have a team from our twin Rotary Club of Vlaardingen 80 who took the trouble to come all the way from the Netherlands just to take part.
