The twinning arrangement between the cities of Cambridge and Szeged in Hungary has led to the development of a close relationship between the respective Rotary Clubs of South Cambridge and Szeged. The party of 13 Szeged Rotarians and their families were hosted by the South Cambridge Club from 19-21 September 2010.
After a traditional Sunday roast at a local pub, our guests were taken for a tour of the University including both the new west Cambridge development and the more traditional sites including Kings' College chapel. On Monday morning the Szeged party were given a guided tour of Ely Cathedral including a climb up to the Octagon. After lunch and some free time shopping in the City our guests attended our club meeting at the University Arms Hotel and after dinner were given a civic welcome by the Mayor of Cambridge, Councillor Sheila Stuart. This short but enjoyable visit ended on Tuesday morning as our visitors set off for three days in North Wales before returning home to Hungary.
