"Look at this big plastic box" shouted the Head Boy to a hall full of his fellow pupils whilst holding a huge blue and gold box above his head. "It's very strong" said he throwing it to the ground and jumping onto its upturned side. "It's good for storage food, rice, flour, wheat WATER."

The place, the Bishop's Stortford High School Assembly and the introduction to the Aqua Box. Then the 6th former who was also a member of the Interact club in the school explained how the box could be used as a store and cleaning system which will deliver clean drinking water.
He continued "We are going to send this box to St Lucia and others to Uganda where there have been terrible floods, where the water is undrinkable and so it will help sustain a family for 3 months. But we can't send it empty and were going to fill it with lots of helpful things to help them get by. Pots, clothes, tools, groundsheet, knives, string, the list is here. Who's going to help fill 3 boxes ?" And the hall resounded with assent.
The schools in Bishop' Stortford have always rallied to help in such a way and from that day both primary and secondary schools have really supported the Rotary Club in its endeavour to serve communities both locally and internationally.
We cannot however let this moment go by without saying a particular big "Thank you" to The Head, Mrs Glasgow, and the pupils and staff of Northgate Primary School . Mrs Gill Dean a member of the Senior Staff has paved the way for an involvement in all the schools with such projects as Aqua Boxes the world wide Anti Polio campaign suitably named Purple Pinky, and the distribution of gifts to the Whitechapel Mission and the local Abbeyfield.
