A fund raising event in aid of CLIC SARGENT. Great fun for participants and spectators alike.

QUADBIKE CHALLENGE 2010

Each year the Rotary Club of Helston-Lizard staged a major fund raising event, a Quad Bike Endurance Race at the ATV Centre, Blackwater.

The aims of the event were twofold:
″ To have maximum fun as up to 12 teams of 6 riders compete to win the trophies by completing the maximum number of laps, and
″ To raise funds for the Club's chosen charity - for 2010 it was CLIC SARGENT.

This year the event will be held on 7 November, with registration at 9.30a.m. Team briefing is at 10.00a.m. and the race starts at 11.00a.m., for 3 hours. Teams of 6 riders run against each other, and each rider completes 3 laps at a time, followed by changing over in the pits to the next one. The changeover includes donning body armour, gloves and a helmet. Trophies and medals will be presented in several categories.

At the ATV Centre there will be complimentary tea, coffee, sweets and bacon rolls for all riders in our marquee. There will be a commentator and lap counters provided by the Club, and the event will be marshalled as usual by the ATV Centre staff. Club members will prepare the site on the Saturday prior to the event, and will clear up after the race is over.

As a fundraising event each rider is asked to raise personal sponsorship with a target of £100.00 each. Riders are asked to bring their raised funds to the event on race day, to save the organisers chasing individuals afterwards.
The Endurance race is usually a lot of fun.  All the riders do their best to change over quickly in the pits, have a cup of tea, and cheer their friends on.
