In recent weeks our committee has taken forward some of the ideas outlined at the beginning of this Rotary year.
Two members of the committee visited New Bridge Learning Centre based at Fitton Hill and saw there the remarkable efforts which staff put in to seek to help youngsters with a wide range and complexity of special needs to progress to employment. To support their efforts the club agreed to provide funding kits for female students to take their Hardressing and Beauty skills into the community where they work (for free) with senior citizens who may be house or homebound. As well as a cafe staffed by students, there is a thriving Horticultural section at the centre and the club agreed to fund materials for the students to build a pergola which would enable plants to be grown outdoors and watered regularly through an automatic sprinkler system.
Following a district request to support scouts at next year's international jamboree in Sweden, the club explored local links and agreed to support four local scouts with a grant of
