notes of pre Guy Carnival meeting of 1 9 2010

Minutes of Pre GC Meeting held on 1st September 2010 at Hanover Inn Harwich at 8.00 p.m.

Rotarians present: Chairman Neil McCrone, President Jeff Dunn, Richard Coolen, Norman Cory, Tony Gould, Chris Strachan, David Wells, Eric Naisbett, Tony Boddy, Malcolm Ablett, David Rutson, Chris Scott, Rodney Parmenter, Ian Wood and Denis Foster.

Public present: Andrew Milne, Pc Trevor Abrahams, Betty Holbrook and Cheryl Thompson.

Apologies received from: Wendy Taylor, Mick Button, Rtns Acland Madge, Chris Papworth, Colin Crawford.

Minutes of Post GC meeting held 3rd February 2010 had been distributed to Rotarians prior to this meeting and members of the public, in attendance, were given a few minutes to read them at this time.

There were no matters arising which would not be covered be items on the agenda.

The date of the carnival was confirmed as 30th October 2010.

Chairman Neil had written to over sixty organisation/clubs/pubs/groups and schools inviting them to participate in some way in the carnival. To date four had replied.

After some considerable discussion is was decided the route will be the same as in previous years subject to no unforeseen emergency road works. A Rotarian will be outside the British Flag pub to ensure the leading float stops there. As there will be a Road Closure Order in force there should be no vehicles hindering the doubling up of floats if the necessity arises.
