Rotary Club of Bishop's Stortford Inter-Schools' Quiz 2011

On Monday 14 February the Rotary Club of Bishop's Stortford held its annual schools' quiz at Bishop's Stortford College's Ferguson Building.  The event attracted a total of 6 teams, made up from Bishop's Stortford College (2 teams), The Bishop's Stortford High School (2 teams), Hockerill Anglo-European College and Leventhorpe School. The competition was based upon the University Challenge format with each session lasting 15 minutes and each team comprising 4 members.

The questions, compiled by ace quiz master David Hopper, were both varied and challenging, providing excellent entertainment for the audience.  All 6 teams were up to the challenge and displayed a wide knowledge of the various subjects.

After 2 rounds the semi-finals were contested by teams from the College and the High school, from which the finalists emerged as The Bishop's Stortford High School (1) versus Bishop's Stortford College (1).  It was a very exciting contest.  With only 5 minutes to go the College were leading by 230 points to 170.  But in those closing minutes the High School put in a real surge to take the title by an amazing 410 points to 310.  The Bishop's Stortford High School were indeed worthy winners having compiled an over all competition points score of 1530 to Bishop's Stortford College's 1000.
