The advantages of becoming a member of Rotary.
Rotary – join us for fun and fellowship
Rotary has been existence for more than 100 years. It is local, national and international. It is represented by people from all walks of life who want to put something back into the community and, as a result, Rotary supports charities and finances good causes, both globally and locally.
But that’s only part of Rotary.
-
There is also the fun element, various social events, get-togethers and, above all, the friends and good relations made with other fellow members.
-
The fun and friendship helps us achieve our charitable aims and is a major reason for the size and spread of Rotary across the world – an organisation of 1.2million members in 33.000 clubs worldwide.
The four Rotary Clubs in the immediate area of Basildon and Billericay welcome new members. Yes, we will ask you to support our ideals and charitable aims but at the same time, we also want you to enjoy doing it by joining in the social activities of the Club, having fun and making new friends.
Look at the list below of just some of the social events the four clubs - Rotary Club of Billericay. Mayflower Club of Billericay, Basildon Rotary Club and Rotary Concord Club of Basildon, put together in the last 2 years.
Anyone who attended the Christmas Market in Billericay High Street in December 2011 and 2012, will remember it as a combined event of great success. Just one venture which made us proud and so many people happy.
There is nothing secret about Rotary. A recent recruit said: “I never really knew what is was about. I was enticed to come on board and, having done so, have no regrets. Great friendship, good food and, above all great company. Internationally, supporting such causes as eradicating polio, supplying water aid to countries experiencing famine and shelter for disaster victims and supporting local charities just adds not only to the purpose but also to the fellowship. Everyone enjoys working and playing together.”
The variety of social activities planned from the early part of 2011 offers something for everyone from age five to eighty five – and beyond! Need more information – the contact numbers and websites are listed. Join us for some fun.
