Dear Fellow Rotarians,
It was an excellent evening on Thursday and a
great start to the new Rotary Year. Profuse apologies to the members present
from Trudy - for reasons best know to himself the Restaurant Manager changed the
table numbering creating chaos. Hopefully everybody found their correct
table!
44 members and guests attended including Claire
and Gavin Charlton, Mike and Gill's daughter and husband, Melissa and Carl
Friessner-Day, and Norman Hall a prospective member.
Greetings were brought to the Club by Rod Hill
who had entertained Charles Streetviser, an American Rotarian from District
7450. There being no meeting for Cheltenham North that week he took his charge
to the Rotary Club of Chipping Campden.
Greetings and attendance slips from Shanghai were
presented by Michael Stevens on behalf of our fellow member Klaus, who Michael
had met coming out of Hotel du Vin! Sadly Klaus was unable to join us for the
Handover meeting.
The Handover took place with Richard Purdon
handing over to Mike Rouse who became President, John Phillip Senior Vice
President and Mike Bone Junior Vice President and we all applauded!

Next Meeting on Thursday 7th July will be a talk
by Charles Price, the Managing Director of Graduate Gardeners. Tony Staite is
Duty Rotarian
Trevor finished the formal meeting off in his
usual manner!
And then..................What a
Treat!
Melissa Friessner Day, daughter of Sherry and
Richard Bretherton long time friends of Mike and Gill, sang for us, accompanied
by Sarah Harris on the piano. Melissa had put together a delightful programme
for us to enjoy and we certainly did. It was
a great way to end a very happy evening.
