… from the President, Tim Bramwell
I am now beginning to settle into the role of President – I’d forgotten how much fun it can be - so a big thank you for your support.
Over the years man has made repeated attempts to improve things which already work - my car wheels will now go a lot further than a cart wheel before breaking, but they are still essentially round, and turn! Rotary changes its theme every year, but the underlying theme is “Service above Self”.
We have recently welcomed back to the club two past members (Bill and Graham) who we know from experience have given time and effort to the club and community in the past, and have welcomed a new member (Dennis) whose work with Tools for Self Reliance is proof enough of a commitment to help others. In the last few weeks a team of willing workers under the supervision of Bill Whittaker has been out sanding and painting various benches across our town – improving the quality of life for the whole community - and our fundraising efforts with the help of Lions Youth Brass will help the Sandbach Talking Newspaper to continue it’s excellent support for those with difficulty reading.
Rotary works at all levels but it’s seeing Rotary work at the grass roots, local level that gives me the most pleasure. What better way to show our commitment to our “Service above Self”.
Tim
