Wed Oct 5th 2011

Bruno Kilshaw gave a fascinating insight into his life and career, joining the Amersham Rotary Club after retiring this year.

He spent his early years in Italy, not arriving in the UK until he was 8. He studied Engineering at The Brunel University before embarking on a career in which he worked for only four companies.

Every one of these companies was involved in the production of food processing machines, the work involved him initially in Europe in Spain, Italy, Greece and Portugal, taking him later to many visits to Hong Kong and China.

Many lines of activity where involved in the machines such as Cigarette Packaging, Food Processing including Rice Sorting.

One of Bruno's companies was awarded the British Exporter of the Year.  He explained also some of the difficulties in losing a factory in the Stratford area of London to make way for the London Olympics, and working with the Olympic authorities to arrange to build a replacement factory in another area. Not an easy task we are sure.

Bruno obviously loved his work, which came over in his talk to us today. He left us assured that our food is well perused prior to being in our shops today.
