Bangladesh ICU Nurse Training

The ITU nurse training project which started in 2003 continues and is currently running its 14th nurse training course. A total of 219 nurses have participated in the scheme up to August 2010. Further details are given in the chart below. A Rotary Foundation matching grant established the program and covered the first 8, three month courses. Of the first 127 participants who completed these first 8 courses, 97 were from BSMMU (the main postgraduate hospital) and the rest were from other institutions. There have also been 10 short resuscitation courses attended by 200 participants.

Our club, jointly with the Metropolitan Dhaka club has pledged to continue to support the program with each club providing 50% funding. Each three-month course can take up to 16 nurses and costs about
