Youth Service Plan 2012-2013

YOUTH ACTIVITIES COMMITTEE

I would like to open with thanking my committee for their support over the past year, but with particular thanks to John Meadows for taking care of the minutes, Sarah Perris for providing hospitality for the meetings and to John Crowe for his excellent organisation of the Art Competition.

During the past year we have joined Weaver and Crewe Clubs in running Rotary Science for the local Primary and Secondary Schools. We have presented the award for the Nantwich Young Citizen of the Year for the second year and we have had entries in the National competitions for both the Young Musician and Young Chef and I have already mentioned the very successful Art Competition for the Primary Schools.

We have increased our input into the Mentoring that we do for Brine Leas School which I feel has been of benefit to both parties.

We have also maintained a close relationship with other youth organisations within the area by participating in the Youth Local Area Partnership.

In the coming year we intend to continue the level of Mentoring at Brine Leas School and to present the Illustrated Dictionary to the final year pupils of Broad Lane, St Annes, Pear Tree and Highfields Primary Schools. We will again hold the Art Competition for Primary Schools. We intend to give the Nantwich Young Citizen Award greater coverage by involving both the local Newspapers and Radio. It is also our intention to encourage local schools to greater participation in the Rotary National Competitions.

Finally I would like to again thank my committee for their support and to wish the retiring members well in their new ventures; I welcome the new members to the Committee and look forward to working with them in the coming year.

Bob Llewellyn, Chairman.
