The Rotary Club of Nantwich

Service above Self.

WHAT IS ROTARY?

FRIENDSHIP - FULFILMENT - FUN

            Rotary was formed in 1905 and is the world's largest and most successful Service organisation.

        There are 30,000 autonomous clubs in over 160 countries worldwide that harness the energy, talents and experience of over a million professional and business people in the service of others.

        Rotary Clubs are non-political and open to every race, culture and creed.

        Rotarians are assured of a friendly welcome at any Rotary Club.

WHY JOIN THE ROTARY CLUB OF NANTWICH ?

 Joining the Rotary Club of Nantwich will provide you with a unique combination of opportunities.

o       The opportunity to exchange views and ideas with likeminded business and professional people.

o       The opportunity for FULFILMENT in getting involved in Rotary projects that benefit the young, the old, the infirm, and the disadvantaged people in society.

o       The opportunity to make friends.

        Lifelong FRIENDSHIPS develop at our weekly lunchtime meetings.

        Rotarians enjoy a variety of club activities, in social, fund raising and service projects.

WHAT ARE THE FUNDAMENTALS OF ROTARY ?

The Object of Rotary is

To encourage and foster the 'Ideal of Service' as a basis of worthy enterprise in the following four areas.

o       The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;

o       To promote high ethical standards in business and profession; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an  opportunity to serve society;

o       To apply the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business and community life;

o       To advance international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

        As a Rotarian a convenient measuring stick for all human relations consists of four simple questions:-

  1. Is it the truth?
  2. Is it fair to all concerned?
  3. Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
  4. Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

This the Rotary FOUR WAY TEST

HOW DOES IT WORK?

            The Club meets on Tuesday each week  at the Civic Hall in Nantwich from 12.45pm to 2.00pm.

        The business of the Club is conducted through a number of small committees.

        There are four Avenues of Service which describe the main areas of Rotary activity;

o        Club Service

o        Youth Service.

o        Community Service

o        International Service.

  Beyond that;

o       Rotary Districts undertake regional projects and assist individual clubs in a variety of ways.

o       Rotary in Great Britain and Ireland sponsors larger scale national projects.

o       Rotary International undertakes large scale projects that are beyond the capacity of individual clubs and Districts.

WHAT IS MY COMMITMENT?

        The basis of Rotary is fellowship and great importance is therefore attached to regular attendance at the weekly meeting.

        As a general rule Rotarians can be expected to attend 60% of meetings. Absences can be made up by attending other Rotary Clubs at home or abroad and Club Committee meetings.

        Every member is appointed to serve on a club committee.

There are between 7 and 10 short committee meetings annually, usually held in the evening.

        There is also the obvious commitment to helping with service and fund raising projects and enjoying club social events.

WHAT DOES IT COST?

        There is an annual subscription of approx £140 and the cost of a weekly meal.

       If you want to make a difference to your business and personal life and help your local Community by having fun, making friends and feeling a sense of achievement then Rotary could be for you.
