Community Service

Our Club is committed to assisting the local and wider community in as many ways as it can, either through regular, ongoing support or helping with one off events, providing manpower and / or financial assistance as required.

'The club continues to play a very active part in supporting the local community in and around Chipping Sodbury and Yate. Regular events include the staging of a series of tea dances in Chipping Sodbury Town Hall affording an opportunity for those suffering from dementia, memory difficulties, family and friends to enjoy an afternoon of musical entertainment and dance whilst being served light refreshments and home made cake provided by the ladies of the Inner Wheel Club of Chipping Sodbury. In the same vein we support the fortnightly sessions at the Oasis Memory Cafe in the Baptist Church in Chipping Sodbury.

Over the past year and more the club has supported Ukrainian related events intended to welcome guests from Ukraine to bed into the local community. Most latterly the club staged a social evening in Yate where Ukrainian guests had the opportunity to meet representatives from a variety of local organisations and discuss the range of services and support available to help Ukrainian families integrate into the local community.

A key focus over the past few years, influenced by the Covid epidemic, has been to support local organisations and charities providing help and support for those that are homeless or struggling with their daily living needs. These include The Blonde Angel Street Team, Family Food For Free, the Yate Foodbank, The Julian Trust and the Caring in Bristol charities.

Recently, the club participated in the Yate Ageing Better Festival in Yate Shopping Centre where, in the presence of  a number of other organisations, the club had the opportunity to promote what it offers to a broad cross section of local residents. Our thanks go to Yate Town Council for making this possible.

The club also supports the Yate and Sodbury Clean Up Group on a monthly basis to clean up litter in the local area.

In recognition of individuals who stand out for their volunteering efforts in the community the club makes occasional awards.

Each year we the club participates in the Chipping Sodbury Remembrance Sunday service by laying a wreath at the War Memorial.'

The club also supports the community with either donations or help. We  recently provided donations towards the Chipping Sodbury Big Lunch and the Warm Space Initiative and assistance at events such as the local BeerFest, Victorian Day and Sodbury Slog which have the advantage of also helping in our fund raising activities.
