Helping Our Local Community

Rotarians strive to give something back to others and endeavour to provide support; both locally and internationally.

Helping at Events

Our club members volunteer annually;

  • at The Living Land event on the Kent Showground
  • at events in Milton Creek Country Park ( Art in the Park and Sport in the Park )
  • marshalling the car park for the Sittingbourne Striders 10 mile race event

Doing Practical Work

We put our practical skills to work undertaking;
  • tree planting & coppicing work in Cromers Wood in support of Kent Wildlife Trust
  • painting and decorating (Quinton Community Playgroup, Phoenix House & CAB)
  • gardening at a local community allotment
  • litter picks (as part of the Clean For The Queen campaign in March 2016)
  • providing and installing two park benches at Milton Creek Country park

Volunteering with other Groups

Club members also volunteer in support of other charities;

  • crewing on Kingfisher on the River Medway
  • on the air weekly at Hospital Radio Swale
  • helping with the running of Phoenix House

Our Own Community Events

  • arranging river trips for the elderly & children with special needs on the River Medway
  • organising an annual 10K Race as a community event in Sittingbourne.
  • collecting annually on behalf of Marie Curie Caner Care's Great Daffodil Appeal
  • supporting Stroke Awareness by arranging free blood pressure checks

Funding Local Clubs

We like to help local clubs and groups with their projects and activities, and each year we give a pot of cash from our Community Chest away to not-for-profit groups who are successful with their funding bids.
