Helping Young People

Rotary offers the chance for young people to develop personal skills and a better awareness of problems that face the world today.

Links with Schools

Our Youth Committee focuses on the needs of young people in and around Sittingbourne. We have established contacts with all five senior schools in Sittingbourne, and also work with a number of junior schools.

Invicta provides opportunities for young people in the local community by:

  • providing interviewing skills workshops at Job Centre Plus
  • running Youth Speaks (public speaking) competitions 
  • sponsoring young people on each Rotary Youth Leadership Award residential weekend training course
  • providing schools with Usborne picture dictionaries
  • providing a Caterham Seven kit car for pupils to build thereby gaining technical and team skills 
  • helping Fulston Manor School start up a glass-making venture
  • co-ordinating the collection of shoebox presents for children in need
  • providing river trips for children with special needs from two local schools
  • adapting wheelchairs for children with special needs to enable them to play sports
  • supporting Swale Youth Development Fund - helping talented young people
  • providing respite weekends for young carers on the Cambria sailing barge
