DONATION TO MINIBUS FUND

Maple Ridge School - a school for children with special needs - had been raising funds to buy a new minibus for school outings and activities. Following a talk given by members from the School’s PTA, the Club agreed that they should try to help and accordingly a fundraising Quiz Night was held at Basingstoke Golf Club on 20 March 2017. Sponsored by Solicitors Wills Chandler the event raised over £3,000 which was presented to Maple Ridge School on

HELP FOR NORTH HANTS MEDICAL FUND

Assistance had been requested by NHMF to help with their “bed push” event. Several members volunteered to help with marshalling on the course. In the past some intrepid members have abseiled down the side of the Hospital Building to raise money for the Fund.

FAMILY FESTIVAL EVENT

The annual event was held on the weekend of 6/7 May. With fine weather on both days, the general public flocked to the event. There were activities for all ages to enjoy and all the fun of the fair with Walls Funfair. There were a variety of commercial stalls and over twenty local charities were present plus a Punch and Judy show, a petting farm and a maze, so there was plenty to see and do. Throughout both days there was a continuous programme of entertainment in the central arena, including the Clive Fortune Big Band, a falconry display, the Joshua Lunnon Live Band, the Russian Choir, dancers from the Spotlight organisation and the Wolverines Display Team.
Although the event represented a lot of hard work to organise it nevertheless was very rewarding to see people enjoying themselves. The event also raised £4000 for the Ark Cancer Charity, which it was hoped would be matched by the Greenham Trust, making a sizeable donation to this worthwhile local charity.

RACENIGHT

Held at Old Basing Village Hall on 25 November the event was held to raise funds for Heartburn Cancer UK. Over £2500 was raised on the evening.
