Rtn. Keith Merry, Chairman of International Service Committee, explains what his committee would like to do in 2012-13 and what they have achieved in 2011-12

2012-13

Our mission

                                              Chairman: Rtn. Keith Merry

The International Committee will play its part in arranging the Lions Youth Brass End-of–Tour concert in the latter part of July 2012 at the Sandbach High School.

We continue to support Tools for Self Reliance charity by accepting tools for refurbishment by the charity and send them to developing countries in Africa.

We plan to engage in Bag packing at the Co-op Store in the run up to Christmas period to raise funds for charities of our choice.  We are very grateful to the store for allowing us to do this.

Proceeds from last year’s Sandbach Ladies Choir concert will be donated to Leonard Cheshire Disability on 25th July.

Members of the International Committee will also be involved in Swimathon 2013.

We will  remain flexible in providing material or financial support in the event of major disasters overseas.

Our achievements

2011-12

                                                Chairman: Rtn. Keith Merry

The International Committee played its part in arranging the Lions Youth Brass End-of-Tour concert in July at the High School. They were also involved with the Swimathon in March this year and arranged a concert with Sandbach Ladies Choir.

The International Committee continues to support Tools for Self Reliance, in which members of the Club have been most helpful.  Members are urged to listen out for tools which are not being used so that they can be put to good use in this worthwhile venture.

Bag-packing at the Co-op in Elworth in this Rotary year raised £265, which will be going to the Leonard Cheshire Disability.  Over the last few years £1700 has been raised in this way.  We appreciate the help of members of Inner Wheel and the Crosses Club.
