Information about Rotary's own charity.

 

 

The Rotary Foundation is the charitable trust fund of Rotary International. In simple terms it is OUR charity and it belongs to every one who holds membership of any Rotary club world-wide.

The objective of the Rotary Foundation is the achievement of world understanding and peace through international charitable and educational programmes.

Rotary Foundation has played a very large part in efforts in recent years to eradicate polio worldwide by financing and organising large scale immunisation. The disease has now been almost wiped out with only 2 or 3 pockets of resistance in remote war torn areas.

Rotary Foundation also helps many other projects both at home and abroad.

The Foundation helps Clubs with Matching Grants for certain projects.

The local Rotary Club's responsibilities include raising funds for Foundation and sponsoring applicants for scholarships, providing candidates for Group Study Exchange teams and offering  hospitality and planning programmes for visiting scholars and GSE teams. Stranraer Club is active in all these areas.
