A SPECIAL DAY OUT FOR DISADVANTAGED CHILDREN
Since 1992, every June, our Rotary Club has organised a fun day out for disadvantaged children. For many years this was trip to Chester Zoo where we linked up with similar groups from local Rotary clubs. More recently it has been a canal boat day trip on the Llangollen canal starting from Trevor. Usually held on the second Wednesday in June, this is part of a national Rotary Kids Out event. Each year over 28,000 children from all over the country take part – thanks to over 750 Rotary Clubs throughout Great Britain and Ireland who work with local schools and special groups to make this happen! It involves over 100 venues and more than 1,700 volunteers.
In June 2010 a party of young people from the charity Dynamic were treated to an evening at the Ten Pin Bowling at the Eagles Meadow complex in Wrexham. Dynamic currently supports over 100 youngsters by holding 7 weekly after school groups, Club 19 – 25 and a Saturday drop-in group, activities during the school holidays and a major Summer programme.
