1St John's Park Burgess Hill

Burgess Hill is a thriving, friendly town with a population of nearly 30,000. It is situated in the heart of Sussex about 40 miles south of London, about 12 miles north of Brighton and about 20 miles from London Gatwick airport. It is surrounded by rolling countryside with the Sussex Downs to the south and the High weald to the north.

Initially a small rural community, the town gradually expanded from the early 1600's onwards, firstly as a brick and tile industry was developed and subsequently with the opening of the London Brighton railway line in 1841. A period of steady growth over 100 years was followed by rapid expansion in the 1950's with a doubling of the population to 14,000 and the establishment of light industry in the town.

There were further major developments in the 1990's, including a link road to the A23/M23 London to Brighton road, extension of the light industrial estate and a second shopping centre.
