Foundation

The Foundation Committee seeks to raise awareness of Rotary's own Charity, THE ROTARY FOUNDATION, and organise events to raise funds for the projects undertaken by the Rotary Foundation.

The Foundation Committee seeks to identify projects locally which could benefit the local community and applies for grants of up to $1000 to add to similar sums raised by the Club to fund such projects.

Recently completed projects include a disabled access ramp at the URC Church in Westgate, a Sensory Garden for the Hearing Impaired Unit at Hartsdown Academy, renovations to the Acol village playground and improvements to the extrenal environment at The Foreland School.

Larger "Global Grants" (from $25,000 - $250,000) are also available from The Rotary Foundation for major humanitarian projects undertaken in other countries. Often groups of Rotary Clubs in the UK and abroad work together to implement these projects. It is possible for an overseas Rotary Club to sponsor a project in the UK in conjunction with a local Rotary Club.
