Annual Rose Bowl Award

Owl Tower Wins Award

Mrs Kay Henderson and Mr John Freear, representing the Len Pick Trust, a local Bourne Charity, received the Rotary Club of Bourne Rose Bowl for the work carried out by the Trust on an owl tower.

Mr Freear explained to the members that an old building on the outskirts of the town had been home to Barn Owls for some time. When it was decided to knock it down for safety reasons the Trust decided to replace it with a new refuge for breeding pairs of owl. He explained that last year was quite successful but this year had been poor to date.

Mrs Henderson was delighted to receive the Bowl on behalf of the Trust, which was presented by President Frank Lofthouse and the Community Committee, which is Chaired by Rotarian Richard Wells.

The Rose Bowl is an Annual Presentaion to an organisation or individual who has made a contribution to the local community in some sort of environmental capacity. The new Chair of the Community Team, Rotarian Steve Buffery, is happy to accept nominations from anyone if they feel they know someone who deserves recognition for their work.
